A Show of Patriotism: The Art of Healing Heroes

The power of art can heal the human spirit and the power of imagination can heal the body and mind. Our new exhibit features the transformative effects of Joel Harris’ uniquely effective art-therapy program for soldiers returning from combat. For three years, Joel has utilized a unique approach with non-artists to use illustration as part of an inner healing process aimed at touching the soul and create a sense of wholeness for the artist.

Joel Harris would like to thank the Kenneth A. Picerne Foundation for their continued support and the American Combat Veterans of War (ACVOW) for their support and generous donation of the framing for the exhibit.

The opening reception of EXPERIENCE & INSPIRATION: Art Creates Community featured ukulele players from the San Marcos Senior Center under the direction of Ron Woskow, grantee of the Kenneth A Picerne Foundation's Senior Artist Project.
