RICA COULTER
Resident at Vista del Monte

Printmaker and Collage artist Rica Coulter can trace her lifelong dedication to the art muses from a childhood of drawing and painting in Brooklyn, New York. She pursued her art studies with rigorous training in printmaking techniques at the Colorado Springs Fine Art School, and received her BFA from the University of Illinois where she studied commercial art, art history and printmaking. Returning to New York she studied etching and engraving at Atelier 17 under master printmakers Lee Chesney and Ronald Robertson. A move to Santa Barbara brought her into contact with Ricky McNeill and Joe Zirker, local printmakers who introduced her to the techniques of collagraphs and monoprints.

After devoting the majority of her creative energies towards monotype and collage printmaking, Rica has most recently focused on collage. She creates realistic and expressionistic compositions using a myriad of materials. She hand cuts everything.

Rica is the recipient of numerous awards and is a member of local and national arts organizations. Her work is well represented nationally in private collections. She is also a renowned sculptor, commercial artist and art teacher.
