The Art of Teaching The heart of the Community
November 19th - January 8th
The Art of Teaching, The Heart of the Community
Celebrating 20 Years Through the Artists Who Shape Us
To close our 20th anniversary season, we’re turning the spotlight toward the people who nurture creativity at the very core of our mission—our teaching artists. The Art of Teaching, The Heart of the Community is a special exhibition that honors the talent, dedication, and artistry of the instructors who guide and inspire our students year-round.
Designed as a focused, community-centered showcase, this exhibition invites our teaching artists to share up to three pieces in any medium or style, resulting in a diverse and vibrant collection that reflects the breadth of their creative practices. All works are available for purchase, giving visitors a chance to support these artists directly.
Beyond the artwork on the walls, this exhibition also strengthens the behind-the-scenes expertise of our staff—from managing artist submissions to coordinating installation, agreements, and sales—renewing the foundational skills that help keep our gallery thriving.
As part of the exhibit calendar, we are hosting a special “Talk and Tea” event, a warm and informal gathering designed to thank our teaching artists and offer our community a chance to connect with them more personally. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the individuals who teach, inspire, and make our creative community possible.
Join us in recognizing the teachers whose art enriches our lives and whose hearts shape our community.

Celebrating Free Art
October 1 - November 14, 2025
Front Porch Gallery is proud to partner with Beacons for a joyful exhibition celebrating the spirit of the Free Art Movement and the first birthday of “Carl,” our beloved Free Little Art Gallery.
The exhibition showcases art inspired by themes of celebration, featuring diverse works from a wide range of artists. Highlights include imaginative 2D installations created by Studio Beacons participants alongside original “celebration”-themed pieces that will fill the gallery walls with color and joy throughout October and November.
The opening celebration on October 4th doubles as Carl’s 1st birthday party, but the exhibition will remain on view beyond the festivities, inviting the community to enjoy and reflect on the joy of sharing art freely. Visitors to the gallery are invited to bring a mini-piece of art for Carl.
Beacons is a nonprofit dedicated to providing person-driven learning opportunities for individuals with diverse intellectual abilities in Carlsbad, CA. Their newest division, Studio Beacons, offers artistic spaces where artists with developmental disabilities and artists without disabilities collaborate to develop skills, experiment with tools and techniques, and connect with the wider community through art.
